Songs are one of the “useful Arts.”

Since the Constitution (quoted above), Congress has continued to protect the rights of songwriters. The pertinent chapters of Title 17 of the United States Code (at least for this blog) are as follows:

Chapter 6: Importation and Exportation

Chapter 8: Proceedings by Copyright Royalty Judges

Chapter 11: Sound Recordings and Music Videos

…along with “transitional and related statutory provisions,” including the most recent amendments to copyright laws that were the Orrin G. Hatch-Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act, and the Marrakesh Treaty Implementation Act.
